Lunar Eclipse...Kinda

Tonight, as many of you may know, was a lunar eclipse. A red one, and it was supposed to be really cool.

Alex and I, Alex is another photo student at MSU, decided to go shoot that moon. Unfortunately, the clouds had other plans. We ended up racing the clouds about 20 miles east of Bozeman in order to get right under the one little opening in otherwise state wide cloud cover. It was dark out, we were trying to spot the moon while going much to fast on road I have never driven before in a place where there is no cell service. Great idea, right?

At least it wasn't -40 out. Just 35 above.

We got everything set up in an awesome location and then...the return of the clouds. We managed to get a few shots in before we once again got in the car and started racing east again. Unfortunately, the clouds completely closed up and we never did get a shot of the full eclipse. We did get some of it about to go into the full thing, but it wasn't all the way. Kind of sad, but it was a really fun and intense night. Plus, Alex brought cheesits for the ride back.

While we didn't get any shots of the full eclipse, I think we still got some awesome moon shots. Not something you'd see every day. Unfortunately, they're very noisy and grainy. Mostly because I had to crop the images a lot and that didn't help. But you know, it was fun and at least the moon looks cool!

See you tomorrow! Well actually later today!
